Wordpress Hosted Blog without the Hosting Fee

I just got an email today and when I went to check it out I knew it was something I had to share with you all.

I do this with a number of blogs, because it's the only way I have complete control over the content as well as the anchor text. Just sign up and make the content on a related topic as your "main" blog. You can then put a link to you blog in the posts as well as in the side bar of your new free blog.

This is the first post in a series that will walk you through how you can monetize your blog.
Blogging is becoming an increasingly popular way for entrepreneurs to earn a living online while doing something they really enjoy. In many cases bloggers can profit with very little effort. There may be quite a bit of work involved in the beginning with designing a method of gaining revenue and promoting the website but once this is established simply maintaining the blog with regular postings may be enough to keep the revenue rolling in.

There are numerous ways to monetize your blog. We will start with the easiest today and work our way forward.

Make Money with Adsense and Blogging:

Adsense is the easiest way to start making some money from your blog. Whether you have a blogger or a hosted wordpress blog you can use adsense. Using AdSense is one of the most popular ways for bloggers to generate revenue from their blog. This method is so popular because it is also very simple.

AdSense is a program offered by Google where bloggers agree to have advertisements on their website and are compensated when users click on these advertisements. Bloggers simply have to create a blog and submit the website address of the blog as well as some other information to apply for participation in AdSense. Once a blog is approved the owner is given code they can simply copy and paste to have advertisements displayed on their blog. Google then serves appropriate advertisements each time the blog is accessed. Whenever possible, the advertisements served on the blog are closely related to the content of the blog because Google crawls the website ahead of time to determine which advertisements are relevant to the content.

Blog owners do have some ability to place restrictions on the types of advertisements which may appear on the blog. For example the blog owner can specify adult advertisements are not to appear on the blog and Google will filter these out.

If you have a wordpress blog it is easy to get adsense on your blog. You can simply install a plugin. It will allow you to choose where your ads show up, how many ads you show on your blog. It's very simple.

On a blogger blog you can just go to "layout" and under add a page element you will see an adsense element. Fill in your adsense code and you are good to go.

Two Steps to Get Started Wahm Blogging

Blogging is one of the best ways I know of to drive traffic to your site. It is also an amazing way to drive traffic to merchant sites and sell affiliate products.

I encourage all Wahm's to blog, it's cheap, easy and the search engines love them.

Step 1 of Wahm Blogging ~

Figure out how you can incorporate a blog into your business. Are you an affiliate marketer? What types of products do you market. If you target a specific niche you can blog about topics that would interest that niche, and add a link here and there when you review products.

Are you a network marketer? I think blogging for network marketers is a very much underutilized tool. I see plenty of buy this network marketing websites, but rarely if ever see a content rich site that may within the content reference network marketing products. This strategy will work for just about any company. It's again, knowing your market and providing quality information to them.

Step 2 of Wahm Blogging ~

Decide where you want to host your blog. There are a few options here. I recommend each of them for different reasons.

For your primary blog I wholeheartedly encourage you to host your own wordpress blog. It is by far the best blogging platform with the most flexibility. You own the content and no one can ever take it away from you. You have heard those scary stories of blogger blogs just disappearing overnight ~ haven't you? It does happen.

It will cost you money for hosting, but in the long run it is an amazing investment in your business. You might talk to your tax guy, maybe it's deductable?

Blogger (Blogspot) ~ which is where this site is hosted. I suggest if you are using secondary blogs to drive traffic and provide quality backlinks to your primary blog use blogger, and livejournal and wordpress.com, even myspace blogs.

If you are trying to make money NEVER use a wordpress.com blog. Monetization of a wordpress.com blog is strictly against the terms of service, which I found out the hard way. They will quickly delete your blog ~ they were nice enough to warn me and I was able to save my blog and move it to my own hosted blog.
